"The Best Method to Quit Smoking Is" article

When defining the best method to quit smoking, I find myself in a difficult spot.
Difficult because no matter which method to quit smoking I would choose, there would be arguments against it.

You could advocate for quit smoking laser therapy as the best method to quit smoking, or it could be hypnosis, or CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), NLP, Cold turkey, nicotine patches, gum, inhalers... there are so many methods to quit smoking, and I am sure that for every method there are good and bad arguments.

So writing this article, I will try to argue for why I am choosing some method to quit smoking over others, and don't be surprised, but I am not going to pick out a single method over all others, because I do not think any single method to quit smoking is superior.

And please keep in mind, that when saying this, I do not single out hypnosis as the best method to quit smoking, even though I myself make my living from hypnosis, and a lot of my clients are quit smoking with hypnosis clients.

Actually I will divide the methods into 3 categories:

First category:
This category contains methods I strongly resent, because in my opinion you just risk developing another addiction than smoking.

Stay away from any kind of nicotine replacement therapy, unless you are a very well disciplined person, you may very well end up being addicted to the patch, the inhaler, or the nicotine gum.

In short, stay away from NRT = Nicotine Replacement Therapy, you are trying to rid yourself from nicotine addiction, not just transfer it to another delivery method.

In short, stay away from NRT = Nicotine Replacement Therapy, you are trying to rid yourself from nicotine addiction, not just transfer it to another delivery method.

I strongly suggest you to stay clear of this method to quit smoking.

Second category:
This category contains method I cannot recommend, but also methods that are not damaging to you.

In this category I currently only wish to put one method to quit smoking, and that is quitting cold turkey.

I can't recommend quitting cold turkey, because studies clearly show that less than 5% of people attempting to quit cold turkey are successful.

Third category:
In this category are methods to quit smoking, that I feel certain will work for a large number of people. Simply because it addresses the physical, as well as the mental aspect of quitting.

I recommend you try one of the following methods to quit smoking: Hypnosis, NLP, CBT, Any method involving you looking at how you think and feel about smoking, and yourself.

To sum it up, any method where you stay addicted to nicotine, is a bad method, and any method that addresses both the mental and physical aspects are among my recommended methods to quit smoking.

When quitting always remember that you are not only fighting the nicotine addiction, but even worse, you are fighting your subconscious mind, and the power of habits.
