Food for muscle building

Working out at the gym is one of the ways to build muscles, but you must remember to fuel your muscles with the right food so that they can grow and stay lean. Although we need to take in proteins to build those muscles, it is wrong to assume that we need ONLY proteins for muscle building. Your body needs enough calories for muscle conversion to take place. The muscles can only make use of the glucose that was converted from carbohydrates to work and grow in size.

But before you drown yourself with lots of carbos, remember that excess intake of carbos will result in weight gain, not in terms of muscle gain, but in terms of fats. Having too much fats on your body will result in flabby-looking muscles.

Here are some foods that you should eat to increase your protein intake.

  • lean chicken breast meat
  • egg whites
  • low fat dairy products, such as cheese, yogurt and milk
  • fish such as salmon and tuna
  • lean steak
  • lean turkey meat

Here are some foods that you should eat to increase your carbohydrates intake.

  • rice and pasta
  • wholemeal bread
  • baked potatoes (go easy on the dressing)
  • cereals
  • fruits such as bananas, apples, and berries
  • vegetables such as asparagus and broccoli. They are also excellent sources of anti-oxidants.

Do I need to invest in a gym membership?

This will depend on how much you want to train your body. Here are some pros and cons of owning a gym membership.

Pros:

  • This will motivate you to workout more often as you do not want the membership to go to waste.
  • Most commercial gyms provide lessons such as yoga, pilates, aerobics, kickboxing, etc. This is more interesting than the boring workouts that you do yourself. You should find something of your interest.
  • There are also many other facilities such as sauna, steam pool, jacuzzi, where you can relax after a day of hard work.
  • Professional trainers will also be around to guide you to build your muscles.

Cons:

  • Not everyone has the time to go to the gym. Some people have busy working schedules and it is not worth it if you are like visiting the gym only once a month.
  • Some gyms are only interested in creating sales. Therefore, they might sell you a gym package that you might regret buying or not suitable for you at all.

In my opinion, there is no real need to get a gym membership. You can exercise at home or in the park. Go for a swim, a game of basketball, or even for a stroll! If you are serious in gaining muscle mass, you should check out Jon's 7 minute muscle system now!
